Praised by  the Los Angeles Times and Dance Magazine as entertaining, distinctive and original, THE BALLET COLLECTIVE was founded by John Castagna to create and perform new choreography for the diverse audiences of Los Angeles .

The Ballet Collective dancers collaborate closely with choreographers to create memorable performances in a fusion of contemporary movement and ballet.

The first critical success of the company was Castagna's A Midsummer Night's Dream, an unusually whimsical traipse through the Shakespearean caper. One enjoyable aspect of the Collective is that many works in the repertoire tell stories.  Some dances are based on new interpretations of the classics and others on ideas and tales never or rarely danced before.

The Ballet Collective 2008/2009 season* will be performed in Los Angeles.  Check back with the website for details of each engagement.

Thanks to the ongoing enthusiasm of audience, the press and the FRIENDS OF THE BALLET COLLECTIVE , the Collective continues to expand both its repertoire and commitment to developing choreographers and dancers in Los Angeles.

* Supported, in part, by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors though the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.
